Talent roles represent the roles for your project. Talent will apply for specific roles when submitting their audition for a specific audition round.

Roles are central to the audition process as they present to the talent what skills and attributes a talent should have when applying.

Casting team members also use roles when assessing talent to understand which roles a talent has applied for and what skills to assess the talent against.

To create a new role select the Roles tab of the project and select the "Add role" button. This will display a popup dialog to enter information about the role.

Complete the following information:

Name of role: Two or three words identifying the name of the role or character. Good practice is to keep this to 3 words maximum so it is easily distinguishable in short form in the talent and casting portal.

Role image: This is used to visually identify the role. It is good practice to have a different image for each role so easily distinguishable when casting.

Description: The detailed description of the role

Number of People Required for this Role: This is the number of people (or animals of an animal role) you are needing in order to fulfil this role. This number is visually displayed to casting leads when talent are added to the working cast list.

Contract type: Whether this is a paid, unpaid or academic role

Contract and Rehearsal dates: Specify the start and end dates for the contract for this role and when rehearsals are happening

Role characteristics: Involves selecting specific characteristics for the role including age, ethnicity, languages and more. Note that skills are really important as these specify the skills that talent will be assessed against by the casting team.

Appearance specifics: Involves specifying appearance specifics for height and weight. Note that units (whether imperial or metric) can also be specified.

Once a role is created some other attributes can be added.

Team Members

By default the team members assigned to roles will not be specified. In JamarGig if no team members are specifically applied then all team members for the project will be assigned to this role. By assigning team members to a specific role allows the casting team limit casting contributors to only see and assess talent applicants that have applied for specific roles.

To add team members select the "Add team member" button, select team members from the project team and apply them to the role. Once a team member is added to a role then applicants that apply for that role will be restricted for assessment by only the assigned team member(s).

Material

Just like projects, individual roles can have informational material added that can serve as information for talent to view before submitting their application. The material that can be added includes PDF files, videos, video links, photos and sound files. To add material select the "Add Material" button.

You can then select or drag 'n' drop files to the upload hotspot.

Before files are uploaded the names of the files can be changed by selecting into the filename area and changing the name to what ever is required. Best practice is to keep the names to no more than two or three words. To delete the select before upload just select the "x" icon.

Once the files are selected hit the "Add" button and the file upload will commence.

Material can be viewed natively within the casting portal browser by selecting the material.
